Article L722-7 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The effective removal of a foreign national who is the subject of a decision imposing an obligation to leave French territory may not take place before the expiry of the time limit for challenging this decision and the accompanying decision determining the country of return before the administrative court, nor before the same court has ruled on these decisions if they have been referred to it.
Where the decision fixing the country of return is notified after the decision imposing the obligation to leave French territory, the actual removal may not take place before the expiry of the period allowed for challenging this decision, nor before the administrative court has ruled on this appeal if the matter has been referred to it.
The provisions of this article apply without prejudice to the possibilities of house arrest and placement in detention provided for in this book.

L’éloignement effectif de l’étranger faisant l’objet d’une décision portant obligation de quitter le territoire français ne peut intervenir avant l’expiration du délai ouvert pour contester, devant le tribunal administratif, cette décision et la décision fixant le pays de renvoi qui l’accompagne, ni avant que ce même tribunal n’ait statué sur ces décisions s’il a été saisi.
Lorsque la décision fixant le pays de renvoi est notifiée postérieurement à la décision portant obligation de quitter le territoire français, l’éloignement effectif ne peut non plus intervenir avant l’expiration du délai ouvert pour contester cette décision, ni avant que le tribunal administratif n’ait statué sur ce recours s’il a été saisi.
Les dispositions du présent article s’appliquent sans préjudice des possibilités d’assignation à résidence et de placement en rétention prévues au présent livre.
