Article R1233-31 of the French Labour Code

The employer sets the duration of the redeployment leave at between four and twelve months. The duration set may be less than four months, subject to the employee’s express agreement. In the case of retraining, it may be extended to twenty-four months.

When the employee follows a training course or a course to validate the experience acquired, the duration of the redeployment leave may not be less than the duration of these courses, subject to a limit of twelve months.

L’employeur fixe la durée du congé de reclassement entre quatre et douze mois. La durée fixée peut être inférieure à quatre mois sous réserve de l’accord exprès du salarié. En cas de formation de reconversion professionnelle, elle peut être portée à vingt-quatre mois.


Lorsque le salarié suit une action de formation ou de validation des acquis de l’expérience, la durée du congé de reclassement ne peut être inférieure à la durée de ces actions dans la limite de douze mois.
