Article R211-29 of the French Insurance Code

Where the insurer covering civil liability in respect of a motorised land vehicle has not been notified of the road traffic accident within one month of the accident, the period provided for in the first paragraph of article L. 211-9 for making an offer of compensation is suspended at the end of the one-month period until the insurer receives this notification.

Lorsque l’assureur qui garantit la responsabilité civile du fait d’un véhicule terrestre à moteur n’a pas été avisé de l’accident de la circulation dans le mois de l’accident, le délai prévu au premier alinéa de l’article L. 211-9 pour présenter une offre d’indemnité est suspendu à l’expiration du délai d’un mois jusqu’à la réception par l’assureur de cet avis.
