The Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale is responsible for managing the database made up of all the information appearing on the medical sections and additional medical sections of the death certificates sent to it.
It implements physical and logical protection measures in order to preserve the security of the processing and of the information, to prevent it from being distorted, damaged or communicated to unauthorised third parties and to preserve its integrity.
The data in this database are accessible, under conditions that preserve data protection:
1° To agents of the National Public Health Agency appointed by the director general of this establishment;
2° To agents of the regional health agency appointed for this purpose by the director general;
3° After a request to the National Institute of Health and Medical Research, for the pathologies that concern them, to doctors responsible for an approved pathology register.
Data relating to the causes of death are made available to the national health data system mentioned in article L. 1461-1 of the Public Health Code under the conditions defined in article L. 1461-7 of the same code.
