Article R2213-26 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The body is placed in a hermetically sealed coffin meeting the conditions set out in Article R. 2213-27 in the following cases:

1° If the person was suffering at the time of death from one of the transmissible infections listed in a of article R. 2213-2-1;

2° In the event of the body being deposited either at home, in a church building or in a temporary vault, for a period exceeding six days;

3° In all cases where the Prefect so prescribes.

Article R2213-26

Le corps est placé dans un cercueil hermétique satisfaisant aux conditions fixées à l’article R. 2213-27 dans les cas ci-après :

1° Si la personne était atteinte au moment du décès de l’une des infections transmissibles dont la liste est fixée au a de l’article R. 2213-2-1 ;

2° En cas de dépôt du corps soit à résidence, soit dans un édifice cultuel ou dans un caveau provisoire, pour une durée excédant six jours ;

3° Dans tous les cas où le préfet le prescrit.
