Article R2223-20 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

Thirty days after publication and notification of the decree, the mayor may have the materials of the monuments and funerary emblems remaining on the plot removed.

He shall have the remains of the interred persons exhumed. For each plot, these remains are placed in an appropriately sized coffin.

Trente jours après la publication et la notification de l’arrêté, le maire peut faire enlever les matériaux des monuments et emblèmes funéraires restés sur la concession.

Il fait procéder à l’exhumation des restes des personnes inhumées. Pour chaque concession, ces restes sont réunis dans un cercueil de dimensions appropriées.
