Article R2223-79 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

When the transfer to a funeral home of the body of a person who has died in a public or private health establishment, which does not fall into the category of those required to have a mortuary in accordance with article L. 2223-39, has been carried out at the request of the director of the establishment, the costs resulting from transport to the funeral home shall be borne by the establishment as well as the costs of the stay during the first three days following admission.

In the case provided for in the previous paragraph, the body may be transported again under the conditions defined by article R. 2213-7.

Lorsque le transfert à une chambre funéraire du corps d’une personne décédée dans un établissement de santé public ou privé, qui n’entre pas dans la catégorie de ceux devant disposer obligatoirement d’une chambre mortuaire conformément à l’article L. 2223-39, a été opéré à la demande du directeur de l’établissement, les frais résultant du transport à la chambre funéraire sont à la charge de l’établissement ainsi que les frais de séjour durant les trois premiers jours suivant l’admission.

Dans le cas prévu à l’alinéa précédent, le corps peut faire l’objet d’un nouveau transport dans les conditions définies par l’article R. 2213-7.
