Article R2573-40-3 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The term of office of the associate mayor chairing the Local Finance Committee and his or her deputy is the same as their term of office as mayor.

The deputy mayor of the associate mayor chairing the Local Finance Committee of French Polynesia represents him/her if he/she is absent or unable to attend and replaces him/her in the event of death, suspension, compulsory resignation or dismissal.

At the meeting of the Local Finance Committee, the deputy mayor and the associate mayor chair the Local Finance Committee.
At the meeting of the Local Finance Committee following the replacement, the representatives of the communes present, whether full or substitute, elect the new substitute for the mayor associated with the chair of the Local Finance Committee from among the mayors representing the communes.

La durée du mandat du maire associé à la présidence du comité des finances locales et de son suppléant est la même que celle de leurs mandats de maire.

Le suppléant du maire associé à la présidence du comité des finances locales de la Polynésie française le représente en cas d’absence ou d’empêchement et le remplace en cas de décès, de suspension, de démission d’office ou de révocation.

Lors de la séance du comité des finances locales qui suit le remplacement, les représentants des communes présents, titulaires ou suppléant élisent le nouveau suppléant du maire associé à la présidence du comité des finances locales parmi les maires représentants titulaires des communes.
