Continuous monitoring is carried out in health establishments comprising one or, exceptionally, several units, if the size of the establishment justifies it, organised to care for patients who, due to the seriousness of their condition or the treatment they are receiving, require repeated and methodical clinical and biological observation.
The continuous surveillance unit may operate in a health care establishment that has neither a resuscitation unit nor an intensive care unit if it has signed an agreement specifying the conditions for patient transfer with establishments that have a resuscitation or intensive care unit.
The medical team of a paediatric continuous monitoring unit is made up of doctors who satisfy one of the two conditions below: 1° Be qualified specialists in paediatrics ; 2° Be qualified specialists or competent in anaesthesia-intensive care or qualified specialists in medical intensive care; These doctors have experience in paediatric intensive care.
