Article 904 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The powers assigned by this Code to the judicial court, the assize court, the first president of the court of appeal and the judge of the judicial court shall be exercised respectively by the court of first instance, the criminal court, the president of the superior court of appeal and by a judge of the court of first instance. The powers attributed to the public prosecutor and the public prosecutor at the court of appeal are exercised by the public prosecutor at the high court of appeal.

Les compétences attribuées par le présent code au tribunal judiciaire, à la cour d’assises, au premier président de la cour d’appel et au juge du tribunal judiciaire sont exercées respectivement par le tribunal de première instance, le tribunal criminel, le président du tribunal supérieur d’appel et par un juge du tribunal de première instance. Les compétences attribuées au procureur de la République et au procureur général près la cour d’appel sont exercées par le procureur de la République près le tribunal supérieur d’appel.
