Article D2223-55-2 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

In application of article L. 2223-25-1, the exercise of the following professions in the funeral sector is subject to the possession of a diploma comprising theoretical training and practical assessment:

– master of ceremonies, responsible for coordinating the conduct of the various ceremonies that take place from the placing in the coffin until the burial or cremation of a deceased person;

– funeral advisor and similar, responsible for determining directly with families the organisation and conditions of the funeral service.

Directors and managers hold the diploma entitling them to practise the profession of funeral adviser and equivalent.

At the end of the examination session, the jury sends the list of graduates to the secretariat of the Conseil national des opérations funéraires . The list of graduates is published once a year in the Official Bulletin of the Ministry of the Interior.

En application de l’article L. 2223-25-1, l’exercice des professions suivantes du secteur funéraire est subordonné à la détention d’un diplôme comprenant une formation théorique et une évaluation pratique :

– maître de cérémonie, chargé de la coordination du déroulement des diverses cérémonies qui ont lieu de la mise en bière jusqu’à l’inhumation ou la crémation d’un défunt ;

– conseiller funéraire et assimilé, chargé de déterminer directement avec les familles l’organisation et les conditions de la prestation funéraire.

Les dirigeants et les gestionnaires sont titulaires du diplôme permettant d’exercer la profession de conseiller funéraire et assimilé.

Au terme de la session d’examens, le jury transmet la liste des diplômés au secrétariat du Conseil national des opérations funéraires . La liste des diplômés est publiée une fois par an au Bulletin officiel du ministère de l’intérieur.
