Article L123-1 of the French Insurance Code

In the case of hail insurance, the insured must send the claim form within four days of the occurrence of the loss, except in the case of fortuitous events or force majeure, and unless the contract provides otherwise.

In the case of livestock mortality insurance, this time limit is reduced to twenty-four hours, subject to the same reservations.

En matière d’assurance contre la grêle, l’envoi de la déclaration de sinistre doit être effectué par l’assuré, sauf le cas fortuit ou de force majeure, et sauf prolongation contractuelle, dans les quatre jours de l’avènement du sinistre.

En matière d’assurance contre la mortalité du bétail, ce délai est réduit à vingt-quatre heures, sous les mêmes réserves.
