Article L224-99 of the French Consumer Code

The consumer has a period of forty-eight hours from the signing of the contract to exercise his right of withdrawal, without having to justify his reasons or pay any penalties.

Exercising the right of withdrawal terminates the obligations of the parties. The consumer must then reimburse the trader for the price received and, in return, the trader must return the item(s) purchased. If the consumer fails to return the item(s) purchased, the trader shall pay the consumer a sum equivalent to double the selling price received for the item(s) purchased.

This withdrawal period does not apply to investment gold transactions.

Le consommateur dispose d’un délai de quarante-huit heures à compter de la signature du contrat pour exercer son droit de rétractation, sans avoir à justifier de motifs ni à payer de pénalités.

L’exercice du droit de rétractation met fin aux obligations des parties. Le consommateur doit alors rembourser au professionnel le prix perçu et, en contrepartie, ce dernier doit lui restituer le ou les objets achetés. A défaut de restituer le ou les objets achetés, le professionnel verse au consommateur une somme équivalente au double du prix de vente perçu pour le bien ou les objets achetés.

Ce délai de rétractation ne s’applique pas aux opérations d’or investissement.
