Article L232-7-1 of the French Sports Code

I.-The number of women and men to be appointed at each renewal, as well as the drawing of lots provided for in the fourth paragraph of this article, shall be determined six months before the expiry of the terms of office, in such a way that :

-the difference between the number of women and the number of men appointed at the time of this renewal is at most equal to one ;

-and that the difference between the total number of women and the total number of men, among the nine members of the Board and the person mentioned in 1° of II of article L. 241-1, is reduced as much as possible in order to obtain an equal number of women and men.

At the same time as the number of women and men to be appointed is determined, lots are drawn to decide which of the authorities mentioned in the fourth to thirteenth paragraphs of Article L. 232-6 and in 3° of II of Article L. 241-1 are to appoint a woman and which are to appoint a man.

II – However, if an authority wishes to renew the term of office of an outgoing member, it shall first nominate that member. The other members will then be appointed by the other authorities due to take part in the renewal, in accordance with the conditions set out in I of this article, if necessary by drawing lots.

Article L232-7-1

I.-La fixation du nombre de femmes et d’hommes à désigner lors de chaque renouvellement, ainsi que le tirage au sort prévu au quatrième alinéa du présent article, interviennent six mois avant l’échéance des mandats, de telle sorte :

-que l’écart entre le nombre de femmes et le nombre d’hommes désignés lors ce renouvellement soit au plus égal à un ;

-et que soit réduit l’écart entre le nombre total de femmes et le nombre total d’hommes, parmi les neuf membres du collège et la personnalité mentionnée au 1° du II de l’article L. 241-1, d’autant qu’il est possible en vue d’obtenir un nombre égal de femmes et d’hommes.

Le tirage au sort est réalisé, concomitamment à la fixation du nombre de femmes et du nombre d’hommes à désigner, afin de déterminer, parmi les autorités mentionnées du quatrième au treizième alinéas de l’article L. 232-6 et au 3° du II de l’article L. 241-1 participant à ce renouvellement, celles qui désignent une femme et celles qui désignent un homme.

II.-Toutefois, dans le cas où une autorité souhaite renouveler le mandat d’un membre sortant, elle le désigne au préalable. Il est alors procédé, dans les conditions prévues au I du présent article, au besoin par tirage au sort, à la désignation des autres membres par les autres autorités appelées à prendre part à ce renouvellement
