Article L313-4 of the French Consumer Code

Any advertisement made, received or perceived in France, which, regardless of its medium, relates to one of the loans mentioned in article L. 313-1, specifies the identity of the lender or credit intermediary and the nature and purpose of the loan. Where this advertising includes an interest rate or figures relating to the cost of the credit to the borrower, it shall also clearly, concisely and prominently state the additional information on the characteristics of the credit, provided, where appropriate, by means of a representative example.

A decree in the Conseil d’Etat will set out the list of information to be provided and how it is to be presented.

Toute publicité faite, reçue ou perçue en France, qui, quel que soit son support, porte sur l’un des prêts mentionnés à l’article L. 313-1, précise l’identité du prêteur ou de l’intermédiaire de crédit, la nature et l’objet du prêt. Lorsque cette publicité comporte un taux d’intérêt ou des chiffres relatifs au coût du crédit pour l’emprunteur, elle précise également de façon claire, concise et visible les informations complémentaires sur les caractéristiques du crédit, fournies, le cas échéant, à l’aide d’un exemple représentatif.

Un décret en Conseil d’Etat fixe la liste et les modalités de présentation de ces informations.
