Article L342-27 of the French Tourism Code

A departmental, interdepartmental or regional association for the promotion of cross-country skiing and non-motorised snow sports other than downhill skiing may be set up in mountain departments on the proposal of the departmental council(s) or regional council concerned.

The associations created in application of the first paragraph may form a national association in order to coordinate their activities.

Sur proposition du ou des conseils départementaux ou du conseil régional concernés, il peut être créé dans les départements de montagne une association départementale, interdépartementale ou régionale pour la promotion du ski de fond et des loisirs de neige non motorisés autres que le ski alpin.

Les associations créées en application du premier alinéa peuvent se regrouper au sein d’une association nationale en vue de coordonner leurs activités.
