Article L424-21 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

A foreign national holding a multi-annual residence permit issued to beneficiaries of stateless status and members of their family, as provided for in articles L. 424-18 and L. 424-19, and providing proof of four years’ lawful residence in France, will be issued with a ten-year residence permit, subject to lawful residence.
The child concerned by the provisions of the first paragraph means a child with legally established filiation, including an adopted child, by virtue of an adoption decision, subject to verification by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the legality of this decision when it was pronounced abroad.

L’étranger titulaire de la carte de séjour pluriannuelle délivrée aux bénéficiaires du statut d’apatride et aux membres de leur famille, prévue aux articles L. 424-18 et L. 424-19, et justifiant de quatre années de résidence régulière en France, se voit délivrer une carte de résident d’une durée de dix ans, sous réserve de la régularité du séjour.
L’enfant concerné par les dispositions du premier alinéa s’entend de l’enfant ayant une filiation légalement établie, y compris l’enfant adopté, en vertu d’une décision d’adoption, sous réserve de la vérification par le ministère public de la régularité de cette décision lorsqu’elle a été prononcée à l’étranger.
