Article L7211-2 of the French Labour Code

Any person employed by the owner or the main tenant of a residential building who, while living in the building as an accessory to the employment contract, is responsible for the care, supervision and maintenance of the building or part of these functions, is considered to be a caretaker, building employee, cleaning lady or cleaning man.

Est considérée comme concierge, employé d’immeubles, femme ou homme de ménage d’immeuble à usage d’habitation, toute personne salariée par le propriétaire ou par le principal locataire et qui, logeant dans l’immeuble au titre d’accessoire au contrat de travail, est chargée d’en assurer la garde, la surveillance et l’entretien ou une partie de ces fonctions.
