Article L7212-1 of the French Labour Code

An employee whose employment contract is terminated at the employer’s initiative may not be forced to leave his accommodation before a minimum period determined by decree of the Conseil d’Etat or without payment of compensation.

The amount of this compensation is equal to the price of the quarterly rental of accommodation equivalent to that occupied by the employee and the benefits in kind that the employee receives.

Le salarié dont le contrat de travail est rompu à l’initiative de l’employeur ne peut être obligé à quitter son logement avant un délai minimum déterminé par décret en Conseil d’Etat ou sans le paiement d’une indemnité.

Le montant de cette indemnité est égal au prix de la location trimestrielle d’un logement équivalent à celui que le salarié occupe et des avantages en nature qu’il perçoit.
