When the body is transported outside mainland France or an overseas department, authorisation is given by the prefect of the department where the coffin is closed.

Lorsque le corps est transporté en dehors du territoire métropolitain ou d’un département d’outre-mer, l’autorisation est donnée par le préfet du département où a lieu la fermeture du cercueil.
