Article R2213-31 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

Any burial in the cemetery of a commune is authorised by the mayor of the commune of the place of burial. This authorisation may be sent by dematerialised means.

Any cemetery assigned in whole or in part to serve a commune is considered to be located there even if it is outside the territorial limits of that commune.

Toute inhumation dans le cimetière d’une commune est autorisée par le maire de la commune du lieu d’inhumation. Cette autorisation peut être adressée par voie dématérialisée.

Tout cimetière affecté en totalité ou en partie à la desserte d’une commune est considéré comme y étant situé même s’il se trouve hors des limites territoriales de cette commune.
