Article R2223-135 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The verification of the knowledge of the applicant for recognition of his professional qualifications provided for in article L. 2223-50 is made on the basis of supporting documents produced by the applicant.

It is carried out, with regard to the duties of thanatopractor, by three qualified persons, including a thanatopractor, appointed by joint order of the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Health from among the members of the national panel responsible for awarding the thanatopraxy diploma and, with regard to the other duties, by a training body declared in accordance with the articles L. 6351-1 to L. 6351-8 of the Labour Code.

On completion of this verification, the prefect and, for the duties of thanatopractor, the minister responsible for health receive, where appropriate, a proposal relating to the subjects to be validated from the programme of the aptitude test as well as the content and duration of the adaptation course likely to be required.

La vérification des connaissances du demandeur de la reconnaissance de ses qualifications professionnelles prévues à l’article L. 2223-50 est effectuée au vu des pièces justificatives produites par le demandeur.

Elle est réalisée, s’agissant des fonctions de thanatopracteur, par trois personnes qualifiées, dont un thanatopracteur, désignées par arrêté conjoint du ministre de l’intérieur et du ministre chargé de la santé parmi les membres du jury national chargé de délivrer le diplôme de thanatopraxie et, s’agissant des autres fonctions, par un organisme de formation déclaré conformément aux articles L. 6351-1 à L. 6351-8 du code du travail.

A l’issue de cette vérification, le préfet et, pour les fonctions de thanatopracteur, le ministre chargé de la santé reçoivent, le cas échéant, une proposition relative aux matières à valider du programme de l’épreuve d’aptitude ainsi qu’au contenu et à la durée du stage d’adaptation susceptible d’être requis.
