Article R426-5 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

When a foreign national who already has a residence permit bearing the words “long-term resident-EU” issued by another European Union Member State is recognised as a refugee or granted the benefit of subsidiary protection in France, the Prefect or, in Paris, the Police Prefect, will inform the authorities of that Member State so that they can amend the “Remarks” section of the interested party’s residence permit accordingly. The same applies when the foreign national was already under the protection of that State and that protection has been transferred to France.

Article R426-5
