In accordance with article R. 237-1, the provisions of articles R. 424-1, R. 424-4, R. 424-7 and R. 424-11 are applicable to foreign nationals whose situation is governed by Book II.
The temporary residence permit bearing the word “employee” provided for in article L. 421-1 authorises the exercise of a professional activity under the conditions defined in articles R. 5221-1 et seq. of the Labour Code.

The temporary residence permit bearing the wording “temporary worker” provided for in article L. 421-3 authorises the exercise of a professional activity under the conditions defined in articles R. 5221-1 et seq. of the Labour Code.
A foreign national who meets the conditions for renewal of the temporary residence permit bearing the word “temporary worker” provided for in article L. 421-3 will be issued with a permit for a period equal either to the remaining term of the initial work contract or secondment of which he is the holder, or to that of his new work contract or extension of his secondment.
The list mentioned in the second paragraph of Article L. 421-4 includes:1° Level I diplomas accredited by the Conférence des grandes écoles;2° The professional bachelor’s degree.
The provisions of article L. 421-5 are applicable to foreign nationals whose self-employed activity requires them to be registered either in the National Register of Companies as a business in the trades and crafts sector or in the Trade and Companies Register, or with the Union de recouvrement des cotisations de sécurité sociale et d’allocations familiales (URSSAF).
