Article R426-9 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The temporary residence permit provided for in article L. 426-21 is intended for the performance of a mission of general interest aimed either at promoting the autonomy and protection of individuals, strengthening social cohesion, preventing exclusion or, where applicable, correcting its effects, or carrying out solidarity actions in favour of disadvantaged or disaster-stricken individuals residing on French territory.
The voluntary work contract referred to in article L. 426-21 includes the information set out in article 12 of decree no. 2006-1205 of 29 September 2006 on voluntary work in associations.

L’autorisation provisoire de séjour prévue à l’article L. 426-21 est destinée à l’exercice d’une mission d’intérêt général visant soit à promouvoir l’autonomie et la protection des personnes, à renforcer la cohésion sociale, à prévenir les exclusions ou, le cas échéant, à en corriger les effets, soit à mener des actions de solidarité en faveur de personnes défavorisées ou sinistrées résidant sur le territoire français.
Le contrat de volontariat mentionné à l’article L. 426-21 comprend les indications prévues à l’article 12 du décret n° 2006-1205 du 29 septembre 2006 relatif au volontariat associatif.
