Article R2573-35 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The representatives to the Assembly of French Polynesia shall be elected by it from among its members, together with their substitutes, by proportional representation with complementary distribution according to the rule of the largest remainder, without panachage or preferential vote.

The list of candidates must include as many names of titular members and substitutes as there are seats to be filled, specifying for each of them whether he/she is a titular candidate or a substitute candidate.

On each list the seats are allocated to the candidates according to the order of presentation.

Les représentants à l’assemblée de la Polynésie française sont élus par elle en son sein, avec leurs suppléants, à la représentation proportionnelle avec répartition complémentaire suivant la règle du plus fort reste, sans panachage ni vote préférentiel.

La liste des candidats doit comporter autant de noms de titulaires et de suppléants qu’il y a de sièges à pourvoir en précisant pour chacun d’eux, s’il est candidat titulaire ou candidat suppléant.

Sur chaque liste les sièges sont attribués aux candidats d’après l’ordre de présentation.
