Article R2573-40-1 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

At the first meeting of the Local Finance Committee following the general renewal of the municipal councils, the representatives of the municipalities present, whether full members or alternates, elect the mayor associated with the chairmanship of the Local Finance Committee, together with his or her alternate, from among the mayors representing the municipalities.

The vote takes place by secret ballot, by an absolute majority of the representatives of the municipalities present.
The vote is taken by secret ballot, by an absolute majority of the representatives of the communes present.

If, after two rounds of voting, no candidate has obtained an absolute majority, a third round of voting is held and the election takes place by relative majority.

In the event of a tie in the number of votes, a third round of voting is held.
In the event of a tie, the oldest candidate is declared elected.

The results of the election are published in the Official Journal.

Lors de la première séance du comité des finances locales qui suit le renouvellement général des conseils municipaux les représentants des communes présents, titulaires ou suppléants, élisent le maire associé à la présidence du comité des finances locales, avec son suppléant, parmi les maires représentants titulaires des communes.

Le vote a lieu au scrutin secret, à la majorité absolue des représentants des communes présents.

Si après deux tours de scrutin aucun candidat n’a obtenu la majorité absolue, il est procédé à un troisième tour de scrutin et l’élection a lieu à la majorité relative.

En cas d’égalité de suffrages le plus âgé est déclaré élu.

Les résultats de l’élection sont publiés au Journal officiel de la Polynésie française par le haut-commissaire.
