Supporting files including copies of source programmes and executable programmes, voting equipment, and registration, results and back-up files are kept under seal, in accordance with the conditions set out in article 4 of the Act of 6 January 1978 on Data Processing, Data Files and Individual Liberties. This storage is carried out under the supervision of the national technical commission provided for in article R. 713-25-1, until the expiry of the deadlines for appeals against the electoral operations so that the vote counting procedure can, if necessary, be carried out again.
Once the time limits for appeals have expired or, in cases where legal action has been taken, once a final decision has been reached, the support files are destroyed under the supervision of the national technical commission.
Only the support files kept by the electoral commissions are destroyed.
The only files kept by the electoral operations organisation commissions are the lists of candidates, together with their nomination papers and credentials, and the minutes of the election.
