Chapter IV: Prosthetists and orthotists for the fitting of appliances to the disabled

Orthoprosthetists, chiropodists, ocularists, epithesists and orthopaedic orthotists are subject to rules of good dispensing practice laid down by order of the Minister for Health.

When appliances and products are supplied by establishments with one or more sales outlets, each sales outlet must have at least one professional trained and competent under the conditions defined in articles D. 4364-8, D. 4364-9, D. 4364-10 and D. 4364-11 on the days and during the hours when patients receive technical care. This professional may be different from the director or manager of the sales outlet or establishment.

The rental, peddling, itinerant sales, so-called demonstration sales, sales by canvassing or by mail order of orthoprostheses, podo-orthoses, ocular or facial prostheses and products delivered by orthopaedic-orthotists are prohibited.

An orthopaedic surgeon, a chiropodist-orthotist, an ocularist, an epithesist or an orthopaedic surgeon-orthotist may be registered in only one department or only in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon.
