The Commission is divided into three sections, each responsible for examining applications to practise the professions of doctor, dental surgeon and midwife. For doctors, the section is made up of colleges corresponding to the various specialities.

Proof of a sufficient level of proficiency in the French language, as mentioned in I of article L. 4111-2, must be provided when registering for the knowledge verification tests mentioned in the second paragraph of the same article, by obtaining one of the qualifications specified by order of the Minister for Health. Applicants of French nationality and foreign residents are exempt from this requirement.

The secretariat of the committee is provided by the national management centre, with the assistance of the Conseil national de l’ordre des médecins in the case of the committees responsible for authorising doctors to practise.
