Section 2: Persons authorised to practise the profession

The persons mentioned inarticle L. 4321-6 are authorised to perform the following acts: 1° Within thermal establishments, the following acts of massage and medical gymnastics: a) Joint mobilisation in a thermal water bath ; b) Manual massage under thermal water ; c) Manual massage with thermal water sprays or vaporisations; d) Manual massage with the application of thermal mud; 2° Within the establishments mentioned in 2° of article L. 4321-6,…

The knowledge verification tests provided for inarticle L. 4321-6 are organised by the Rhône-Alpes Regional Health Agency.

The jury, chaired by the Director General of the Regional Health Agency or his representative, comprises : 1° A doctor with expertise in rehabilitation ; 2° Two masseur-physiotherapists, at least one of whom is a health executive; 3° A health executive nurse. The members of the jury and their alternates are appointed by the Director General of the Regional Health Agency.

The tests to ascertain knowledge consist of a written test and a situational test in front of the members of the jury. These tests are designed to assess candidates’ theoretical and practical knowledge of : 1° Anatomy, biomechanics and kinesiology ; 2° The application of technical aids and walking techniques; 3° The application of activation techniques in time and space; 4° Application of manual massage techniques; 5° Installation of passive…

The following are laid down by order of the Minister for Health: 1° The composition of the application file ; 2° The procedures for registering for the knowledge verification tests and the procedures for opening them; 3° The nature of and procedures for organising and validating the tests listed inarticle D. 4321-33-3 ; 4° The model certificate referred to inarticle D. 4321-33-5.

The Director General of the Regional Health Agency shall issue a certificate to candidates deemed suitable by the jury, certifying that they have passed the knowledge verification tests and that they are authorised to perform the acts mentioned in 2° ofarticle R. 4321-33.
