Section 4: Special rules for certain hazardous chemical agents

Workers exposed to lead or its compounds have access to two rooms fitted out as collective changing rooms located near the exit of the establishment, the first being reserved exclusively for the storage of street clothes and the second for the storage of work clothes. Showers connect the two changing rooms.

The employer must ensure that exposed workers do not enter the second changing room until they have left their street clothes in the first, and that they do not enter the second changing room until they have used the shower facilities after any work involving exposure to lead and its compounds.

The employer shall ensure that workers do not eat or smoke in their work clothes. Workers shall eat in street clothes or disposable overalls provided by the employer.

When work clothes are washed by an external company, they are transported in closed containers, with clearly legible signs indicating the presence of lead, without prejudice to the provisions of article R. 4412-73.
