The suspension of the limitation period temporarily halts its course without erasing the period that has already run.
Interruption wipes out the acquired limitation period. It starts a new period of the same duration as the old one.
The postponement of the starting point, suspension or interruption of prescription may not have the effect of extending the period of extinctive prescription beyond twenty years from the day on which the right arose. Prescription does not run: 1° In respect of a claim which depends on a condition, until the condition arrives; 2° In respect of an action in warranty, until the eviction takes place; 3° In respect of a claim with a term, until that term has arrived.
Prescription shall not run or shall be suspended against a person who is unable to act as a result of an impediment resulting from law, agreement or force majeure.
It does not run or is suspended against unemancipated minors and adults under guardianship, except for actions for payment or recovery of wages, arrears of annuities, maintenance payments, rents, tenancies, rental charges, interest on sums lent and, generally, actions for payment of everything payable by years or at shorter periodic terms.
It does not run or is suspended between spouses, as well as between partners bound by a civil solidarity pact.
It does not run or is suspended against the accepting heir up to the amount of the net assets, in respect of the claims he has against the succession.
