The film screenings mentioned in 1° of article L. 214-1 consisting of the performance of long-running cinematographic works are limited to six per year and per association or group.
For associations or groups whose exclusive purpose is to contribute to the development of cinematographic culture and image training, an exception may be made to the limit provided for in Article D. 214-1 by decision of the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée up to a limit of twelve screenings per year and per association or group. The associations and groups mentioned in articles D. 214-1 and D. 214-2 keep an up-to-date list of the film screenings they organise under article L. 214-2 indicating the cinematographic works programmed during these screenings. This list is made available to the control agents of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée mentioned in Article L. 411-1.
The authorisation to disseminate culture through cinema provided for in 2° of article L. 214-1 is granted to a federation for all the associations and similar bodies affiliated to it, known as “ciné-clubs”. Authorisation is granted by the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée on the basis of a file that includes:1° The federation’s articles of association;2° Where applicable, the federation’s internal regulations.The President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée must be notified of any changes to the information provided in support of the application for authorisation within three months.
Each authorised federation keeps an up-to-date list of the associations and similar bodies affiliated to it.
Film screenings organised by film clubs are reserved exclusively for members and their non-paying guests.

Before issuing the authorisation, the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée seeks the opinion of the regional director of cultural affairs, who may consult experts in the field of cinema exhibition, distribution and cultural dissemination, as well as persons exercising functions in the cultural field within local authorities.
Authorisation is granted for one session or a series of sessions.
