Subsection 7: Aid for the production of audiovisual works

Selective financial aid is awarded for the production of quality short-length audiovisual works in order to improve their financing conditions and encourage their exposure on television and on-demand audiovisual media services.

Selective grants are awarded to delegated production companies that do not hold an automatic audiovisual production account.

Audiovisual short-duration single works in the fiction, animation and creative documentary genres are eligible for selective support.

Short-length audiovisual works are made with the assistance of shooting studios and laboratories established in France, on the territory of a Member State of the European Union or, when they are made as part of an international co-production eligible under an intergovernmental co-production agreement, on the territory of the State or States of the co-producers. To be eligible for selective financial support, short-length audiovisual works must receive an initial contribution from one or more television or on-demand audiovisual media service publishers.

The initial contribution from the publisher(s) must:1° Be made in cash in the form of investment in producer’s shares or in the form of a contract for the purchase of rights to make the work available to the public concluded with the production company before shooting is completed. Grants are awarded on the basis of the artistic quality of the works, the economic conditions under which they are produced and the conditions under which they are shown on television services or on-demand audiovisual media services.

The amount of aid is equal to the amount of the initial contribution from the publisher(s), but may not be less than €10,000 or more than €30,000, subject to the application of the provisions of Article 411-9.
