The burial compartment, intended to receive one or more bodies before committal, is separated in a closed and hermetically sealed manner from the passenger compartment intended for the driver and, where applicable, the passengers. It may consist of a hermetically sealed box fixed irremovably to the body of the vehicle.
The burial compartment may not have any glazed area or ventilation system. Its surface is smooth, impermeable and capable of being washed and disinfected daily without corrosion. It is fitted with a safety device enabling its opening system to be operated from the inside.
Bodies are transported on curved stretchers whose surface is smooth, impermeable and capable of being washed and disinfected frequently without corrosion, fitted with a strap device. A self-locking device inside the burial compartment ensures that the stretchers are held in place during transport.
