Article R214-2 of the French Insurance Code

The supporting documents provided for in articles R. 211-15 to R. 211-21 are only required, in each of the overseas departments, in respect of vehicles registered in that department and vehicles not subject to registration whose usual place of parking is located in that department.

The provisions of the fifth paragraph of article R. 211-17 are not applicable in the overseas departments.

The obligation to take out insurance is checked in accordance with the provisions of articles R. 211-15 to R. 211-21. However, the insurance certificate issued under the terms of this chapter must include a statement to the effect that the said certificate is only valid in the department in which it was issued.

Article R214-2

Les documents justificatifs prévus aux articles R. 211-15 à R. 211-21 ne sont exigibles, dans chacun des départements d’outre-mer, qu’en ce qui concerne les véhicules immatriculés dans ce département et les véhicules non soumis à immatriculation dont le lieu de stationnement habituel est situé dans ledit département.

Les dispositions du cinquième alinéa de l’article R. 211-17 ne sont pas applicables dans les départements d’outre-mer.

Le contrôle de l’obligation d’assurance est exercé conformément aux dispositions des articles R. 211-15 à R. 211-21. Toutefois, l’attestation d’assurance délivrée en vertu du présent chapitre doit comporter une mention spécifiant que ladite attestation n’est valable que dans le département où elle a été délivrée.
