Article R2213-5 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

Except in the case provided for in Article R. 2213-6, it is forbidden to cast a corpse:

– before the expiry of a period of twenty-four hours from the declaration of death to the town hall;

– and without a prior written declaration made, by any means, to the mayor of the commune where the operation is carried out.

Article R2213-5

Sauf dans le cas prévu à l’article R. 2213-6, il est interdit de faire procéder au moulage d’un cadavre :

– avant l’expiration d’un délai de vingt-quatre heures depuis la déclaration du décès à la mairie ;

– et sans une déclaration écrite préalable effectuée, par tout moyen, auprès du maire de la commune où l’opération est réalisée.
