Article R2221-8 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

Members of the board of directors or the operating board may not:

1° Take or retain an interest in undertakings connected with the public service authority;

2° Hold a position in such undertakings;

3° Provide a service for such undertakings;

4° Lend their assistance to the public service authority for valuable consideration.

In the event of a breach of these prohibitions, the person concerned shall be stripped of his office either by the board of directors or the operating board at the behest of its chairman, or by the prefect acting on his own initiative or on a proposal from the mayor.

Article R2221-8

Les membres du conseil d’administration ou du conseil d’exploitation ne peuvent :

1° Prendre ou conserver un intérêt dans des entreprises en rapport avec la régie ;

2° Occuper une fonction dans ces entreprises ;

3° Assurer une prestation pour ces entreprises ;

4° Prêter leur concours à titre onéreux à la régie.

En cas d’infraction à ces interdictions, l’intéressé est déchu de son mandat soit par le conseil d’administration ou le conseil d’exploitation à la diligence de son président, soit par le préfet agissant de sa propre initiative ou sur proposition du maire.
