I. – The provisions of IIIa of Article L. 2224-12-4 apply to increases in the volume of water consumed due to a leak in a drinking water pipe after the meter, excluding leaks due to household appliances and sanitary or heating equipment.
II. – When the drinking water utility notices an abnormal increase in consumption on the basis of the meter reading recording the customer’s actual water consumption, it informs the customer by any means and at the latest when sending the bill drawn up on the basis of this reading. This information specifies the steps to be taken to benefit from the bill capping provided for in IIIa of article L. 2224-12-4.
The certificate from a plumbing company to be produced by the subscriber states that the leak has been repaired, specifying the location of the leak and the date of repair.
The service may carry out any necessary checks. In the event of an objection to the inspection, the service will, if necessary, initiate recovery procedures.
III. – When the subscriber, having failed to locate a leak, requests that the meter be checked for proper operation pursuant to the third paragraph of III bis of article L. 2224-12-4, the service shall notify the subscriber of its response within one month of the request being made.
The service may carry out any necessary inspection.
