Article R613-1 of the French Consumer Code

The Consumer Mediator shall inform the parties without delay of the occurrence of any circumstance likely to affect his independence or impartiality or likely to create a conflict of interest, and of their right to object to the continuation of his mission. If one of the parties consequently refuses to continue the mediation, the mediator’s assignment is terminated. Where the mediator is a legal entity, the natural person responsible for carrying out the mediation shall be replaced.
The mediator may not receive any instructions from the parties.

Le médiateur de la consommation informe sans délai les parties de la survenance de toute circonstance susceptible d’affecter son indépendance, son impartialité ou de nature à créer un conflit d’intérêts ainsi que de leur droit de s’opposer à la poursuite de sa mission. Si l’une des parties refuse en conséquence de poursuivre la médiation, il est mis fin à la mission du médiateur. Lorsque le médiateur est une personne morale, il est pourvu au remplacement de la personne physique chargée d’accomplir la mission de médiation.
Le médiateur ne peut recevoir aucune instruction des parties.
