TITLE I: GENERAL PROVISIONS

The local authority may, by deliberation of the territorial council, determine the conditions under which supplementary teaching in English is provided in the local authority’s nursery and primary schools, in order to facilitate, by taking into account the specific cultural features of Saint-Martin, the learning of the French language. This deliberation is adopted by an absolute majority of the members of the territorial council.

The local authority may, by deliberation of the territorial council, adopt a plan for the development of French language teaching designed to take account of the specific cultural and linguistic characteristics of Saint-Martin. The details of this plan are set out in an agreement between the State and the local authority.
