In the case provided for in article L. 2122-12, nominations are posted at the town hall.
The five-day period within which, in accordance with article L. 2122-13, the election of the mayor and deputy mayors may be declared null and void from twenty-four hours after the election.
The contentious appeal, referred to in article L. 2122-16, lodged against suspension orders and dismissal decrees for mayors and deputy mayors is deemed to be an urgent matter and without costs.
Mayors wear the tricolour scarf with gold fringed tassels in public ceremonies and whenever the performance of their duties may make this distinctive sign of their authority necessary. The wearing of the official mayors’ badge in the national colours, the use of which is optional, is reserved for mayors in the exercise of their duties and does not dispense with the wearing of the scarf when this is prescribed by the texts in force.
Publication of the mayor’s decrees may be established by a certified statement from the mayor. Notification is established by the interested party’s receipt or, failing this, by the original of the notification kept in the town hall’s archives. Decisions taken by the mayor by delegation from the town council or by a deputy or town councillor by sub-delegation are recorded in the register of deliberations in date order, under the conditions provided for in article R. 2121-9. The sheets of paper on which these decisions are transcribed bear the name of the commune and the nature of these acts.
