Section 3: Organisation and operation of consultative bodies

The proceedings of the classification committees and the classification commission are not public.

The members of the classification committees and the classification commission are bound by professional secrecy and may not, in any form whatsoever, report on the discussions of the classification committees and the deliberations of the commission.They are also subject to an obligation of confidentiality with regard to all facts, information and documents of which they have knowledge in this capacity, including with regard to the works and documents themselves.

The secretariat of the classification committees and the classification commission is provided by the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.

Members of classification committees and the classification commission, as well as agents authorised by the Minister for Culture, have free access, on presentation of a service card, to cinemas or any place where cinematographic performances are given.

Each year, the classification committee submits an activity report to the Minister for Culture. This report is made public.

The chairman, deputy chairman and members of the classification committee, as well as the members of the classification committees, may receive an allowance for their position or attendance, the amount and conditions of payment of which are set by decision of the Chairman of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.
