Subsection 3: Aid for script rewriting

Selective financial aid is awarded to authors and production companies for the rewriting of the screenplay of a feature-length cinematographic work, taking into account, in particular, the nature of the subject, the characteristics and qualities of the work, as well as the writing project and the intentions behind it.

Screenplay rewriting grants are intended for projects presented in the form of a dialogue continuity for which additional writing work is required.

To be eligible for screenplay rewriting grants, authors must, depending on the case :1° Where the rewrite concerns a first screenplay, provide evidence of artistic experience in the film or audiovisual field, or of writing or directing, during the ten years preceding that of the application, a theatrical work that has given at least twenty commercial performances or a radio work in the genres of fiction or creative radio documentary,…

To be eligible for screenplay rewriting grants, production companies must, depending on the case :1° Submit the first screenplay by an author who has artistic experience in the film or audiovisual field, or who has written or directed, in the ten years preceding the year of application, a theatrical work that has given at least twenty commercial performances or a radio work in the genres of fiction or radio creative…

Script rewriting grants may also be awarded to the authors’ collaborators, who are responsible for helping with the rewriting process.

A project that has received scriptwriting support is not eligible for script rewriting support.

The same project cannot, for the same expenses, benefit from both script rewriting grants and other grants awarded by the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.
