Extinctive prescription is a method of extinguishing a right resulting from the inaction of its holder for a certain period of time.
Unless otherwise provided by law, foreclosure periods are not governed by this Title.

A liability action seeking compensation for ecological damage redressable under Chapter III of Subtitle II of Title III of this Book shall be barred after ten years from the day on which the holder of the action knew or ought to have known of the manifestation of the ecological damage.
The right of ownership is imprescriptible. Subject to this reservation, actions in rem in immovable property are prescribed by thirty years from the day on which the holder of a right knew or should have known the facts enabling him to exercise it.
