The time limit for issuing the multiannual residence permit provided for in Article L. 424-9 from the decision granting the benefit of subsidiary protection by the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons or the National Court of Asylum is set by decree in the Council of State. .

A foreign national who holds a multi-annual residence permit issued to beneficiaries of subsidiary protection and their family members, as provided for in articles L. 424-9 and L. 424-11, and who can show proof of four years’ lawful residence in France, will be issued with a ten-year residence permit, subject to lawful residence.

A foreign national holding a multi-annual residence permit as provided for in article L. 424-9 may be issued with a residence permit bearing the words “long-term resident-EU”, under the conditions provided for in article L. 426-17.
