Committee members may not take part in the deliberations if they have a direct or indirect interest in the subject of those deliberations.If a committee member is in a conflict of interest situation with regard to a matter on the agenda of a committee meeting, he/she must withdraw from the meeting for the adoption of the resolution on that matter.

Article 132-4 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

A member of a committee who has a conflict of interest in relation to a matter on the agenda of a committee meeting and who withdraws for the adoption of the resolution on that matter is prohibited, for the duration of his or her term of office, from any discussion relating to that resolution with the other members of the committee.

Committee members are subject to a duty of confidentiality, under which they must refrain from taking a public position that could undermine the serenity of the committees’ work or their ethical obligations, or that could call into question the opinions given and decisions taken.

Failure to comply with an ethical obligation defined in this chapter may be grounds for the Chairman of the Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée to declare that the member is permanently unable to perform his duties, after the person concerned has been informed and given the opportunity to present his observations.
