The person responsible for a nuclear activity involving the management of radioactive waste or the release of radioactive effluents shall establish and implement an integrated management system for such waste and effluents, including quality assurance and ensuring the protection of the interests mentioned in Article L. 1333-7, where the activity is likely to present significant risks or inconveniences for these interests.

I.-The person responsible for a nuclear activity shall set up a system for recording and analysing events that may lead to accidental or unintentional exposure of persons to ionising radiation. This system is proportionate to the nature and extent of the risks involved. Persons involved in the performance or control of a nuclear activity or in the preparation, implementation and control of an action intended to protect persons from a radiological risk in the situations set out in Article L. 1333-3, benefit, within their area of competence, from information and training, both initial and continuing, relating to radiation protection.

The supplier of sealed radioactive sources is required to recover, at the holder’s request, any source that it has distributed. Before any source is distributed, the supplier must provide a financial guarantee to cover the costs of recovering and disposing of the source at the end of its useful life in the event of default. The terms and limits of these obligations are defined by regulation.

The person responsible for a nuclear activity sends the body responsible for the inventory of ionising radiation sources referred to in Article L. 1333-5 information on the characteristics of the sources, the identification of the places where they are held or used, and the references of their suppliers and purchasers.

The person responsible for a nuclear activity shall implement the measures for informing persons likely to be exposed to ionising radiation that are made necessary by the nature and extent of the risk involved. These measures include estimating the quantities of radiation emitted or doses received, monitoring them and periodically assessing them.
