The State medical laboratory technician diploma is awarded by the regional prefect to people who have completed the relevant training course and passed the theoretical and practical courses as well as the work placements that make up the training.

The amount of the annual registration fees required of candidates for the State diploma of medical laboratory technician studying in a school attached to a public health establishment is set by order of the Minister for Health.
The training institutes authorised to provide preparatory teaching for the State diploma are responsible, under the supervision of the directors general of the regional health agencies, for organising the tests and displaying the results. The composition of the examination panels is determined by the directors of the institutes, who appoint their members.
If requests for exemption from the courses and tests mentioned in article D. 4352-2 remain unanswered for more than four months, they will be deemed to have been rejected.
